My newest creations

Since I have some time on my hands I decided to peruse Split Coast Stampers website http://www.splitcoaststampers.com
to see what new ideas I could find and try out. The great thing about Split Coast is they have different challenges. One of my favorite is the Color Combination Forum. The administrators choose from the Stampin' Up! color repertoire and set stampers off the create cards using those colors. The results are usually creative and beautiful works of art. This weeks Color Combination Challenge is to use Whisper White and Very Vanilla. You never really know if you are up for the challenge until you are creating something that you actually want to share. These are my submissions for this challenge. Fun and easy card creations that can be done in minutes. Check out more beautiful creations at their website.

Now December's Here

Everything is "secrets"
Now December's here:
Secrets wrapped in tissue
Whispered in an ear.
Secrets big and bulky
Secrets small and slight
In the strangest places
Hidden out of sight.
Packages that rattle,
Packages that squeak
Some say "Do No Open"
Some say "Do Not Peek".
Secrets, secrets, secrets
With Christmas coming near
...except it is no secret
I wish that it were here!

Finally Saw It!!

Today I went and saw the final installment of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part 2. I have to say it was a good movie. It was a little sad to know that this was the final film to be released but it was also nice to finally put it to rest. Time to move on to new interest! I am looking forward to many of the movies that I saw in the previews. In particular Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games. Very excited to see the next one.

Time to give thanks. So let's eat!

November is the time of year to think about what we are thankful for. For many there is always the requisite answers like health, family, relative peace and harmony. For others its not so easy to see what one can be thankful for especially when one is struggling to make ends meet. I say if you have family and friends around you this Thanksgiving season consider yourself among the fortunate even if you are going through a tough time. I am thankful for my son Donovan, that he is healthy, happy, smart, and beautiful. I am thankful for wonderful, caring friends. I am also thankful that I have the time and opportunity to be able to do the things I love to do. And that includes paper crafting. I have some beautiful card creations I created especially for Thanksgiving that I wanted to share. If you are among those who are far from home or you celebrates this holiday with friends or in-laws, a quick and easy card is always a thoughtful touch to add to that bottle of wine or side-dish you bring along with you.

Enjoy the holiday and stuff yourself with turkey, pumpkin pie, and cheer!

I used warm fall colors to create these cards. Colors: Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Elegant Eggplant, Always Artichoke, and Cajun Craze.
NOTE: Be sure to line the inside of the card with Very Vanilla or a lighter CS to write your personalized greeting.

To create this mini card I used Crumb Cake CS and ink for the leaf image. For the greeting I used my Stampin' Write pens in the above mentioned colors to create interest. To create all these cards I used the Day of Gratitude stamp set. I can't say enough about this set. The set includes great stamps that can be used for just about any occasions. I saw some beautiful birthday cards created with this set and learned a great technique called "Rock N Roll" that I will share in another blog post soon.

Fall is Here!

Finally fall has come to California! We have been patiently waiting for summer to end here is Cali. Don't get me wrong us Angelenos love our sunny weather but its nice to have a change in the weather once in a while. In honor of fall I have changed my theme on my blog to go with the cooler temps. The cool weather always finds me wanting to work on crafts. I am busily working on my Christmas cards to be finished and ready to send out after Thanksgiving. I am also working a special gift for my mom this year. But she will have to wait and see when she gets it. I will post more once I have finished and she has seen it for herself. If you're in the Los Angeles area enjoy the cool weather and happy crafting!

Christmas in September

I love Christmas! I always have ever since I was a little girl. I enjoy it even more now that I have a child. I also take this time to think about and plan my holiday décor. The popular décor this year will definitely be the rosettes. When you first try them it’s a little challenging but once you understand how to create them you get hooked on these paper flowers. You will find tons of uses for them. I’m planning on using them on my wreath this year. Perhaps even on my tree. They’re fun, quick, and eye-catching, just the thing for me!

If you are planning to make your own Christmas cards now is a good time to collect your supplies. Many craft stores already have their Christmas embellishments out on the floor. They start adding them slowly beginning in September.  When October is upon us it gets tougher trying to find the time to plan a card layout. Plan early (meaning now) that way you have plenty of time to work daily or weekly, whatever your schedule permits you to do, on your projects. If you would like to know more about these or other projects you see on my blog or to join one of my workshops please contact me at my demonstrator website: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/jenniferliu/

Scroll to the “Calendar of Events”, click on an event to read the description of the workshop, if you’re interested click on the “RSVP” to be added to my email list.

I'm a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Back in July I decided to become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. I am very excited about this new venture. I love paper crafting. I have to really thank my friend Alyce. She introduced me to scrapbooking about 5 years ago and I have taken it to a whole new level. I hope to share my love of paper crafting with some of you at some point. I find it a very calming activity. I can focus on this and forget the world around me for a time. I offer card making demonstrations twice a month. If you find yourself with a spare Sunday please RSVP one of my events and join me for an a couple hours of paper crafting. You will get to try out the latest in Stampin' Up! products, enjoy the company of those who also enjoy paper crafting, and spend a quiet afternoon of you time all for a small fee of $5. If you would like to earn money toward free products just host a demonstration. Ask me how.

A few months ago I took a Copic class to become certified. I love these markers! They are great for use with stamps. They come in a huge array of colors. I am officially a Copic Certified Designer now. They sent me this great little tag to add to my blog. If you ever have questions about Copic markers I am the person to come to as I know quite a lot about them now. I am still in the process of learning how to use them but have found them to be an invaluable tool for my crafting. I got the cool little logo to add to my blog so you will now see it off to the right side of this post.

Summer is almost over.

Yes summer is almost over and with it brings cooler weather, fall, and school is back in session. Tonight I am going back to school. I have been taking some business courses to better sharpen my skills in business. Tonight I start the second portion of my accounting class. Along with the accounting class I will be taking spreadsheet accounting, Quickbooks accounting, and an online Windows class. A full load to be sure! But I am up for the challenge. I'm looking forward to getting underway.

My son starts school next week. 1st grade...wow! I can hardly believe it. He's grown up so quickly that it makes my head spin. Well he's been busy at the YMCA swimming every morning and playing the rest.
I posted some pictures of my recent work. I've been busily working all summer. Have a look and if you have questions on how to construct these cards please post a comment. I will be posting more creations as they come to me but I wanted to get these on my blog so that I had something on here finally.
Enjoy the rest of summer and the upcoming Labor day holiday!

I did it!

Okay so I finally figured out how to use this blog. It's been a huge learning curve and I still have much more to learn. I started this blog so that I could use it to post my craft creations. I recently became a Stampin' Up! demonstrator so I will no doubt use many of their products. Just for the record I feel like they have some of the best products in the market. I look forward to many years of happy crafting.
